Breast health center

Breast health doesn't fit into a single specialty.

A correct diagnosis begins with close communication between the breast surgeon who performs the examination and the radiologist who evaluates the mammogram and ultrasound.

Almost every woman has a breast complaint at some point in her life; most often hardness or pain. At our clinic we listen to your complaint, plan the necessary tests and carry out treatment together with the relevant specialties.

Breast cancer surgery

Breast-conserving surgery

Removing the tumor while preserving the shape of the breast.

In suitable patients only the tumor and the healthy tissue around it is removed instead of the whole breast. With oncoplastic techniques the shape of the breast is reshaped in the same operation; treatment is completed with radiotherapy.

  • Preserving shape with oncoplastic techniques
  • Assessing the armpit with sentinel lymph node biopsy
  • Joint decision with oncology and radiology

Breast reconstruction

Breast reconstruction

Not cosmetic, but part of the treatment.

After mastectomy the breast can be rebuilt with your own tissue or an implant. Reconstruction is often planned in the same operation together with the plastic surgery team.

  • Reconstruction with your own tissue (autologous)
  • Implant reconstruction
  • In the same session or later

Breast self-examination

Five minutes a month, five steps.

Knowing your own breasts is the easiest way to notice a change early.

  1. 01

    Look in the mirror

Arms at your sides, then above your head: is there any change in shape, size or skin?

  2. 02

Place your hands on your hips

Tense your chest muscles; look for dimpling or bulging.

  3. 03

    Check by hand, standing

With your fingertips, use circular movements to scan the whole breast and the armpit.

  4. 04

    Repeat lying down

Lie on your back and do the same check on both sides.

  5. 05

    Check the nipple

If there is discharge, retraction or a sore, make a note and book an appointment.

After the first appointment

From complaint to treatment, step by step.

Uncertainty is the hardest part of the process. We talk through what will happen at every stage in advance.

  1. 01

    Examination and listening

We review your complaint, your family history of breast and ovarian cancer and your previous tests together.

  2. 02

    Imaging

Ultrasound, mammography, tomosynthesis or MRI is planned according to your age and the finding.

  3. 03

    Definite diagnosis

If necessary an ultrasound-guided biopsy is performed; the pathology result confirms the diagnosis.

  4. 04

    Treatment plan

Surgery, a non-surgical method or follow-up. In a cancer diagnosis the decision is made jointly with oncology and radiology.

  5. 05

    Follow-up

Your check-ups after treatment continue regularly at our clinic.
