Breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy?
Which operation is suitable is decided together, based on the tumor and your preference.

Breast-conserving surgery removes the cancerous tissue while keeping part of the breast when the patient and tumor are suitable; radiotherapy is always needed afterwards.
A mastectomy is the complete removal of breast tissue and is preferred for large or multifocal tumors for which breast-conserving surgery is not suitable.
Which operation is suitable is decided together according to the tumor and the patient's preference.
For more details, see the Breast-Conserving Surgery page.
