A palpable breast lump
Cyst or fibroadenoma? Most lumps are benign; how is the difference made?

Most breast lumps are benign tumors; still, every lump needs to be evaluated clinically.
A lump can be a fluid-filled sac (cyst) or a solid mass filled with another tissue. The best way to tell them apart is ultrasound.
Cysts are usually benign; a fibroadenoma is a benign breast tumor common in young women.
