Breast health in older age
Why should screening and follow-up not be neglected after menopause?

About 40 percent of breast cancers worldwide occur in people over sixty-five.
In older age, chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart failure and life expectancy affect treatment choice. Low estrogen after menopause is an advantage in hormone-sensitive cancers.
The patient's age, fitness and chronic conditions play a major role in treatment choice; screening and follow-up should not be neglected.
