Biopsy
Tissue sample for a definite diagnosis.

A breast biopsy is taking a tissue sample from the suspected part of the breast and examining it under the microscope by pathologists; it is needed for a definitive diagnosis.
Fine-needle aspiration biopsy, core needle biopsy and stereotactic biopsy are the main methods. Open surgical biopsies are no longer preferred today except in exceptional cases.
Breast cancer is diagnosed by physical examination, imaging and biopsy; when all three are used together the rate of correct diagnosis rises.
